Uploading the right dimensions keeps your photos sharp and stops Instagram from awkwardly cropping them. Here are the sizes to use for every type of post.

Square post

1,080 × 1,080 px (1:1). The classic, safe choice that always displays cleanly.

Portrait post

1,080 × 1,350 px (4:5). The tallest a feed photo can be, so it takes up the most space and stops the scroll.

Landscape post

1,080 × 566 px (1.91:1). Good for wide shots, though portrait usually performs better in the feed.

Stories and Reels

1,080 × 1,920 px (9:16). Full-screen and vertical — keep text and logos in the middle so nothing is cut off.

Profile picture

Upload at least 320 × 320 px; it displays as a circle, so keep the key detail centred.

A quick tip

Always upload at the largest recommended size. Instagram compresses images, and a larger file keeps more quality.
